"50 Glorious Years" Grand Reunion

Bramcote Hills Sport and Community College staged a Grand Reunion at the College for any former staff and students who had attended the school in any of its former guises—namely Bramcote Grammar, Technical Grammar or latterly the Comprehensive School.

In excess of 320 former staff and students attended the celebrations and were treated to a day of interest and nostalgia, with the College campus open for viewing. Also on display were old record books, trophies and pictures to help those attending remember yester year.

A plaque was unveiled by Mr H Scott, a former deputy and acting head of the Technical Grammar schools in the 1960’s and 70’s,to commemorate the day.

The day opened with Ms Trikic, the outgoing headteacher, giving an informative talk on the history of education provided on the campus since 1956. Various events were highlighted including a fire at the Grammar School in 1972 which destroyed some records including the ‘punishment book’.

Those attending the reunion thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to revisit their ‘old haunts’ and to meet old friends, many saying they would like to have the Reunion more often!
